On 19th January 2022, ISF began a partnership with Global Environmental Centre (GEC) with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on the rehabilitation and maintenance of four hectares of degraded mangrove at Tebuk Mendeleng, Sabak Bernam in Selangor.
ISF’s CEO Mr. Takashi Ishigami was at the site to initiate the project, which involves the planting of 4,000 mangrove trees over the next three years. He was pleased to note that mangrove rehabilitation efforts, being one of the nature-based solutions can provide a variety of services of great social, economic, and environmental value to the local villagers at Kg Dato' Hormat.
ISF and GEC will be providing funding and technical support to the experienced members of Sahabat Hutan Bakau Kg Dato' Hormat, who will ensure the replanting, maintenance, and monitoring of the sites throughout the project period. The project will also involve ISF’s employees across all departments and our stakeholders to spread its sustainability message and the wider applications.
