ISF Transitions to Renewable Energy with the Subscription to TNB’s Green Electricity Tariff ProgrammeISF’s subscription to GET helps offset its carbon footprint, whereby an internationally recognised Malaysia Renewable Energy Certificate (mREC) will be received at the end of each subscription year.
Since March 2022, ISF’s Port Klang Factory in Malaysia has subscribed to 1,370,000 kWh (52%) of green electricity from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)’s Green Electricity Tariff (GET) programme. This allows ISF to offset 8,652,219 kg of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent which is 5.22% of ISF’s total GHG emissions in 2021. ISF’s Dengkil Factory has also subscribed to 750,000 kWh (30%) of its average monthly electricity consumption since TNB announced a new GET quota in February 2023. The continuation of ISF’s GET subscription allows further reduction of ISF’s Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from high electricity consumption.
TNB’s GET programme is an initiative by the Malaysian Government for electricity consumers to purchase green electricity and offset their carbon footprint, being a part of the nation's initiatives to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by the year 2050. GET subscribers are supplied with green electricity in blocks (1 block = 1,000 kWh) produced by Solar and Hydro generators around Malaysia. The generated green electricity is backed by Malaysia Renewable Energy Certificates (mREC) based on International REC standards.
