ISF receives First Green Certificate from Gas Malaysia under Certified Biomethane Gas Supply Agreement

12 February 2025 – ISF proudly announces the receipt of its first Green Certificate under the Certified Biomethane Supply Agreement with Gas Malaysia Energy & Services (GMES). The handover ceremony, held at ISF’s facility, marks a significant step in the company’s commitment to sustainability and cleaner energy adoption.
The event was graced by distinguished guests from Gas Malaysia Energy & Services and Gas Malaysia Green Ventures (GMGV), including Mr. Mohamad Farid Ghazali, CEO of GMES, Mr. Mohd. Shariff Lubis, Chairman of GMGV, and Mr. Mohd Zahir Muda, COO of GMGV. The handover ceremony included the official transfer of the Green Certificate from GMGV to GMES, followed by GMES presenting it to ISF.
In his welcome speech, ISF CEO Fujimori-san expressed his gratitude and underscored the importance of this milestone: “We are proud to be the first customer of Gas Malaysia to receive the Green Certificate under the Biomethane Gas Supply Agreement. Partnering with Gas Malaysia helps us reduce our carbon footprint and adopt cleaner energy solutions. This collaboration with Gas Malaysia not only demonstrates our shared vision for a sustainable future but also highlights the crucial role of industry partnerships in driving innovation and progress. Together, we are paving the way for a more sustainable energy landscape, benefiting both our businesses and the environment.”
Fujimori-san also expressed his appreciation to Gas Malaysia for its support and collaboration in making this partnership successful.
Mohamad Farid Ghazali, CEO of GMES, reinforced the importance of this milestone, stating: “Today, we celebrate a significant milestone in Malaysia’s journey towards a more sustainable energy future—the first certified biomethane delivery via the Natural Gas Distribution System (NGDS) to our valued customer, Intercontinental Specialty Fats, Port Klang. I would like to take this opportunity to commend ISF’s leadership in championing sustainable practices and for taking a bold step in transitioning towards greener energy alternatives. Your proactive efforts in adopting certified biomethane not only benefit your organisation but also set a benchmark for the industry, inspiring others to follow suit.”
Echoing this sentiment, GMGV Chairman, Mr. Mohd. Shariff Lubis highlighted the collective achievement: “After years of innovation, hard work, and collaboration, we have completed the certified biomethane value chain. This achievement would not have been possible without our first customer, ISF. Your role as the pioneer stakeholder in this certified value chain is a significant milestone, paving the way for a greener, more sustainable energy landscape.” He further reiterated GMGV’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions: “At GMGV, we are committed to maintaining and upholding the certified biomethane value chain. Our mission is to continuously deliver green energy solutions that contribute to a sustainable and environmentally responsible future. Together with partners like ISF, we aim to lead the way in creating impactful environmental progress.”

Gas Malaysia Berhad, a member of MMC Corporation Berhad, was established on 16 May 1992 to sell, market and distribute natural gas as well as to construct, operate and maintain the Natural Gas Distribution System (“NGDS”) within Peninsular Malaysia. Gas Malaysia is licensed under the Gas Supply Act, 1993 (“GSA”) by the Suruhanjaya Tenaga (“ST”), with the approval of the Minister, to supply and sell reticulated natural gas in Peninsular Malaysia. On 15 December 2000, Gas Malaysia was granted the licence to supply and sell reticulated Liquefied Petroleum Gas (“LPG”).
