ISF Achieves Remarkable Improvement in CDP for 2023
Selangor 21 Feb 2024: Intercontinental Specialty Fats Sdn Bhd (“ISF”) is thrilled to announce that it has achieved an important milestone in sustainability performance. Recently, ISF has been awarded an A- score from CDP for both of its Forest and Climate Change efforts in 2023.
ISF enhanced its commitment to environmental transparency by disclosing its environmental impact through CDP, a global non- profit that runs the world’s leading environmental disclosure platform. Since 2018, ISF has been actively disclosing through CDP, focusing on Forests initially and adding Climate Change in 2021. In 2023, ISF completed CDP’s Climate Change and Forests Questionnaires.
Notably, ISF's Forest score improved from a B in 2022 to an impressive A- in 2023, while its Climate Change score progressed from a C in 2021 to an A- in 2023, showcasing its dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
With a record 23000+ companies disclosing through CDP in 2023, disclosing data on environmental impact is now a business norm.
ISF’s data will be added to the most comprehensive inventory of self-reported environmental data in the world – helping to drive action through greater transparency.
By disclosing through CDP, ISF is prepared to respond to the increasing demand for environmental transparency from financial institutions, customers and policymakers. In its disclosure, ISF highlighted key environmental initiatives, such as its renewable energy endeavors, such as the Green Electricity Tariff Program, and the installation of solar panels at its operations to reduce non-renewable energy consumption. Additionally, ISF has implemented several strategies to achieve its target of reducing Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions by 10% (by 2030), including the establishment of a Climate Action Road Map and the implementation of nature-based solutions like the Mangrove Rehabilitation Program.
Takashi Ishigami, Chief Executive Officer of ISF, said:
“At ISF, we are committed to transparency and continuous improvement in our environmental practices. That’s why we actively participate in several sustainability rating schemes, including the CDP global disclosure system. This valuable tool helps us identify environmental risks and benchmark our performance against industry leaders. Since 2021, we have voluntarily submitted CDP Climate Change assessments, gaining valuable insights into our standing among our peers. We are honored to have received an A- score for both our Forest and Climate Change efforts. This remarkable achievement not only acknowledges the hard work of our team but also motivates us to further our sustainability efforts.”
Sherry Madera, Chief Executive Officer at CDP, said:
“With over 23,000 businesses disclosing through CDP this year, it is clear that sustainability – and the data that underpins it - is not a ‘nice to have’, but an essential part of long-term success in the business community that is showing no sign of slowing down – nor should it.
“Disclosure works, and today we should take a short pause to celebrate the dedication to transparency and accountability shown by ISF reporting through CDP this year. “A 1.5-degree future is still possible if the global community works in lockstep to get there.
“By sharing their environmental data with CDP, ISF is continuing, an environmental journey that will contribute to keeping that future in sight.”
